News from the Guidance Department:

We are right in the middle of College Application Month (October) and the Guidance Department has lots of fun activities and information to help us with preparing for college.

>One thing is a College and Career Fair It’s happening next week ….Tuesday, October 24th ……from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm on the Rebel Boardwalk. College recruiters, Military Personnel, LOSFA, and Businesses from all over Louisiana and surrounding states will be here to visit with you!

>Another thing is a door decorating contest. That is happening Oct 31. Check with your teachers to see if you can help them with that.

In other Guidance news: Tomorrow, Seniors and Juniors will be meeting with the Graduate Shop. Seniors will be meeting 1st period and Juniors will be meeting 2nd period. Topics of the meetings will be class rings and cap and gowns. You don’t want to miss that.

Seniors, you also have a reminder from Guidance that

The FAFSA Application is being updated, therefore; it will be made available in DECEMBER 2023, instead of the usual October release date.

All students are reminded that the 1st nine weeks ends this Thurday.

And finally from Guidance, we have some upcoming scholarship application deadlines to consider

The Voice of Democracy scholarship application deadline is October 31

and

The 10 Words or Less scholarship application deadline is November 15th.

Sports News:

This week, the Volleyball team plays Haughton at home Monday at 4:00. They travel to Evangel Wednesday for a game at 5:00 And starting Friday, they travel to play in the Natchitoches Central tournament.

Our football teams have some games this week, too. The Freshmen and JV teams play Ouachita at home tonight at 5:30 and 7:00. The Varsity team travels to Ouachita this Friday to take on the Lions.

This week’s spirit theme is Pink Out in recognition of October being Breast Cancer Awareness month. Let’s all wear Pink!

Club and Organization News:

FCS/FCA will meet Wednesday at 7:15 in the new gym.

And this weekend, the Rebel Band has a competition in Bossier. Good luck, Band!!

And, tomorrow, the Student Life team….those who brought us Cornhole and Paper Airplane Flying Contests……are hosting Craft Creating at lunch. There will be music to enjoy and craft supplies ready to use. Show up, relax, and get crafty.

It is also time to start signing up for the next drivers ed class with Coach Osborne. You can go to gorebs.org, click on online payments and find “drivers ed” to sign up. The parent meeting will be Saturday, October 28th at 8 am, and classes will start after school on Monday October 30th. For more information stop by and see Coach Osborne in the PE gym.
